Matric Limited began in 1971 with a customer-oriented philosophy focused on
providing quality products for radio hobbyists and technicians.

A short time later, a local manufacturer of heavy equipment provided the
opportunity to apply radio controls to their machines. This relationship has
continued until today and over the years Matric has initiated many
innovations. Matric's support for this OEM provided opportunities to serve
customers in Europe, Africa, and the Pacific Rim as well as in North
America.
During 1985, Matric moved into the COTS market with a line of single board
computers and peripherals. These products were the next step in the
evolution of embedded controls. Using our COTS boards and backplanes, a wide
variety of control systems could be quickly assembled.
Matric entered the Human Machine
Interface market in 1993 with a line of industrial keyboards. These
keyboards had a wide distribution and became Matric's first CE marked
product.
One of the reasons for Matric's success is a sustained commitment to invest
in the latest and best technology for producing electronic products. Early
in the growth of surface mount technology (SMT), Matric invested in
automated pick and place equipment, an infrared oven, and microscopes for
assembling and inspecting SMT boards. The result is that now Matric has 17
years of experience with SMT technology. The efficiency of Matric's SMT
equipment lead to the cultivation of our contract assembly customer base.

Early in the 1990s it was clear that Matric had made the most of its
facility and needed room to grow. An exhaustive search revealed an ideal
opportunity for expansion. By the summer of 1995, Matric had purchased
property in Seneca, PA, refurbished an existing building for office space, and completed a
new manufacturing addition. At the same time, several equipment upgrades
were made, and Matric was poised to continue its history of growth.
Quality has always been the
hallmark of Matric products and services. This was demonstrated tangibly
when Matric achieved ISO 9001
registration in 1996. The processes and techniques that set Matric apart
were formalized and Matric passed its first ISO 9001 audit with flying
colors. On October 2, 2002, the Matric Quality Management System became certified to ISO 9001:2000. The system is registered with Bureau Veritas Certification.
Another demonstration of Matric's commitment to its customers has come in
the form of expansion during 1998. To
accommodate substantial new business from two major customers, Matric
invested in 28,000 square feet of additional plant space. As usual, the
expansion went smoothly and our customer was able to transfer their
aftermarket support services to Matric without incident.
In December, 2005, Matric purchased Dynamic Manufacturing, located in Pittsburgh, PA. Dynamic is an Electronic Manufacturing Service (EMS) provider with a client base located in the Eastern U.S. The Matric team is very excited about the new working relationship with Dynamic and the opportunities it will provide.
Most recently, Matric added a 20,000 sq. ft. building addition to the existing structure to increase manufacturing space at the main plant location in Seneca, PA. New automatic pick and place machinery, additional state-of-the-art test equipment, a dedicated mechanical assembly department and need for increased warehouse space drove the need for the expansion. The Matric plant size is now 75,000 sq. ft.
Continuous investment and improvements to our
assembly equipment, computer network, ERP software, and lab equipment keeps
Matric at the forefront of electronic manufacturing service providers.
Matric is proud of its heritage and
confident that we will continue to build on past accomplishments. |
