MATRIC SEEKS ROHS CERTIFICATION
Matric is committed to producing products that meet the ever-changing demands of today’s electronics industry. The most recent implementation of regulations to impact the electronics industry has been European RoHS. The regulations took effect in July, 2006. As a result, Matric geared up to produce RoHS compliant products. To ensure that Matric is following an official process, Matric has chosen to pursue official RoHS Certification. Matric is currently going through the intensive certification process with IPC’s newest RoHS Certification process. Matric has been a member of IPC since 1993.
Becoming RoHS compliant has required a top-to-bottom commitment from Matric associates and management. Capital investments were made in production equipm ent and resources to ensure the proper level of compliance. Key personnel began attending informative seminars on RoHS-related issues. In-house seminars and training were also implemented to educate Matric Associates on producing RoHS compliant products.
The scope of this project is very broad though, and goes far behind just having the necessary equipment. It affects the way Matric specifies, receives and stores components, interfaces with suppliers and customers and the entire manufacturing process. A documentation trail must exist to prove all purchased components and material are free of the prohibited substances and that only those components are used in the ROHS assemblies. Manufacturing processes must control the segregation of ROHS and non-ROHS materials and products, and prevent contamination of ROHS products.
Matric hopes to achieve IPC RoHS Certification by the Summer of 2007. For more details on RoHS compliant products or capabilities at Matric, please contact the Sales Department.
