MATRIC IS NOW IPC RoHS CERTIFIED!

IPC – Association Connecting Electronics Industries has awarded certification to Matric in Seneca, PA, under IPC’s Certification for Lead Free Electronics Assembly Process Capability Program.

After extensive preparations Matric successfully completed the IPC program during a recent audit. Matric was the 11th company worldwide to be certified by the IPC program.

“Being RoHS certified recognizes capability in every aspect of the day-to-day operations.  It includes the sales force working with the customer, engineering services coordinating customer requirements and manufacturing processes, commitment from our entire supply chain, excellence in manufacturing and quality operations, and attention to detail right up to the day the shipping department delivers the product,” says Doug Clark, General Operating Manager.  “Every Matric associate is affected by and contributes to our RoHS process.  This effort was driven by the executive management team at Matric, and that was a key factor to the success of the project.” 

Matric began its journey toward RoHS compliance when management became aware of the European initiative in 2004.  In order to prepare for the upcoming changes, Matric began to invest in new RoHS capable equipment. The first equipment purchased was a state-of-the-art, RoHS capable dual pot wave soldering machine.  Other machinery purchased later includes RoHS capable 7-stage convection ovens, hand soldering equipment, and cleaning equipment.

Another key component is the ERP computer system that was customized by the in-house IT team to handle the segregation of RoHS component parts through the entire manufacturing process from ordering and receiving to storage and placement.  RoHS boards also have special part number designations that help ensure compliance throughout the plant.

Matric has been a member of IPC since 1993.  IPC began offering their RoHS lead free electronics assembly process capability program in 2006.
