Overview
The Wireless Data Pool (WDP) is the newest system introduced by Matric. The
WDP allows multiple I/O units to share a block of data in a wireless
network. Inputs sensed at one unit are mapped into the WDP and can be set to
trigger outputs at other units. This approach makes it easy to use an RF
link to tie a sensor directly to an actuator for a simple control loop.

Sensors and actuators can also be interfaced to a PLC by just wiring
to a PLC I/O card. This provides remote wireless I/O that appears to
the PLC as a standard input or output. |

Using the DeviceNet Portal and the WDP DIO unit, standard sensors and
actuators can be integrated with DeviceNet sensors and actuators to
build a hybrid system. |

Also, multiple portals can be used to provide data sharing between
PLCs. |
WDP devices use frequency
hopping spread spectrum radios for superior noise immunity and license free
operation. The update time from input to output is 80ms for two units and
300ms for eight units. The WDP is the industry's easiest way to implement
wireless I/O.
