The new laser marking system is manufactured by FlexLink and boasts the ability to make one of the smallest sized laser cells available. Able to produce 1-D and 2-D serial numbers and custom logos/text, the possibilities are endless for our clients to customize their PCB’s.
The F5000H-K Ultra-Compact High Speed Laser Cell is used in applications where products need an identification mark for tracking or recognition. The Laser Cell can mark on all types of non-metallic surfaces including ceramics, glass and plastics. The key feature for laser marking is that the mark is permanent and consumable costs are low. The F5000H employed world’s first 3 axis control CO2 Laser Marker. Its wide marking area enables FlexLink to produce a Laser Cell with one of the smallest foot print available in the market.
There are many benefits to utilizing the new laser marking technology for Matric and its customers. The system places a permanent, durable marking that can’t be lost or destroyed as similar paper-based labels can. The size of the marking can be designed to be very small which is exceedingly important when dealing with the valuable real estate on a complex and heavily populated board – or even small boards. One of the main benefits will be lot tracking in-house which will give an accurate labor and component tracking capabilities. A sample of a 2D barcode laser cell is shown on a PCB in the photo to the left. This particular 2D barcode has 43 alphanumeric characters stored in the incredibly small space.
