Hershey, PA – On October 26, 2015, Matric representatives Kevin Dulaney, Director of Aftermarket Services, and Jay Weckerly, Quality Analyst, accepted the 2015 Governor’s Award for Safety Excellence (GASE) during a luncheon in Hershey, PA, on behalf of the associates at Matric. The awards presentation for Matric and 7 other Pennsylvania companies was made during the Governor’s Occupational Safety and Health Conference.
Prior to this event, the office of PA Governor Tom Wolf had sent a letter announcing that Matric had won the award earlier in 2015. Matric is part of a total of eight PA businesses being recognized for their commitment to safety excellence this year. It is also one of only two award winners in the western half of Pennsylvania. The other six are from the eastern part of the commonwealth. The GASE is an annual recognition of the commonwealth’s most safe-operating companies.
It is a highly competitive award. The information gained from these nominations provides valuable best practices that are shared across PA. Providing a safe work environment for Pennsylvania’s workers requires complete commitment by employers and employees. For this reason, the safety initiative provides Pennsylvania employers and employees with the information and technical assistance needed to develop comprehensive safety practices in the workplace.
The Safety Committee at Matric is very active, conducting monthly audits and meeting every month. Each new associate completes safety training and MSDS training.
