Matric Group is HUBZone Certification Approved

August 22, 2019

The Small Business Administration (SBA) announced in August 2019, that Matric Group is now eligible for HUBZone opportunities and will be on the list of qualified HUBZone small business concerns found on the SBA’s website.

Established in Western Pennsylvania in 1971, the Matric Group is a quality-focused electronics manufacturing including high mix, low to medium volume board-level and box build assemblies, and cables and harnesses.  Other services provided are in-House Engineering involving complete turnkey design and PCB layout and Aftermarket Services consisting of upgrades, calibration, and repair.

“Congratulations to Matric Group of Seneca, Pa. for obtaining HUBZone Certification to work with the Federal Government,” said State Rep. R. Lee James. “HUB stands for Historically Underutilized Business, a special opportunity for small businesses to compete in a large-scale market.  Matric, already employing over 300 professionals in technical electronics, can now seek government contracts on a level playing field with national and international companies.  This could mean more jobs for our local market.”

To be considered, the company had to meet the following qualifications:

  • The “principal office” must be within a Historically Underutilized Business Zone
  • Must be at least 51% owned and operated by a U.S. citizen, a Community Development Corporation, an agricultural cooperative, or an Indian tribe
  • At least 35% of its employees must reside within the HUBZone region

Upon hearing the news, State Senator Scott Hutchinson said, “This is great news for Matric and our community the Matric Group is a leader in the electronics manufacturing sector, and it’s wonderful to see them receive this recognition and certification by the Small Business Administration.”
