1971 - MATRIC LIMITED FOUNDED

Two electrical engineers turned Vo-Tech teachers whose classrooms are side-by-side and share a passion for HAM radios decide to open a small design and repair shop in a mother's basement with $20 bucks for business cards.

AMATEUR PRODUCTS

To attend the annual Dayton "Hamfest," Lee and Andy repaired record players, clock radios, and other small electronics to raise money to build several products, including the PADDLE Model 11A for $11.95 and the CW Transmitter Model 50 for $49.95 to sell at the show.

Matric begins designing and producing solid-state logic control systems and radio controlled multiplex systems for underground purposes.

OFFICE BUILDING COMPLETED

The original building was 2500 Sq. Ft. and housed all departments. The trailer in the background contained the first SMT line but burned down in the early 80s.

Both Lee and Andy were avid private pilots so what better way to beat out the competition (there wasn't much then) by offering "same day delivery" service for the Northeastern United States.

In October of 1982, a fire broke in the production and engineering trailer. The fire resulted from a flow solder machine that had just been installed.

INVESTING IN THE FUTURE

Matric was one of the first companies locally to install desktop computers and network them together. It inspired them to open Computer Showcase, The Learning Center, & CSOnline. A retail computer store and training facility specializing in residential and commercial systems, educational training, and industrial hardware, software, and installation.

MATRIC PRESIDENT DETAINED IN IRAQ

Lee Richey, president of Matric, flew to Iraq to replace parts of a radio control system. The parts were delayed so the Iraqi government requested Lee stay until the system was operational.

An opportunity to invest $600K in acquiring the inventory and board designs of the RCA Microboard line was a major step forward in expanding capabilities.

A substantial low-interest business loan was obtained to purchase new Surface Mount Technology or (SMT) equipment enabled Matric to become a world-class provider of THT and SMT assembly, engineering, and aftermarket services.

1990 - VP ANDY MAITLAND RETIRES

At the end of the 80s, Andy's interests turned to his favorite pastime, flying. He soon after retiring founded Maitland Flight Opportunities (MFO, Inc.), opening several pilot shops throughout the region's airports and flight training for all ages.

Lee and his wife Jane kept Computer Showcase, CSOnline, and the Learning Center and opened Radio Adventures Company, a Christian-based station in Seneca, PA.

Rick Turner, a native of NY and passionate sailor buys Matric Limited and sets a course to make the company a global leader in electronics contract manufacturing.

Rick purchases an abandoned elementary school in Seneca and begins renovations.

Groundbreaking for 12,000 sq. ft. manufacturing addition to the new building. Renovation of existing 14,000 sq. ft. administration building with an addition of 2,500 sq. ft. for mezzanine training area on the second floor.
