BUSINESS REVIEW: Matric Group finds success in 2022

This past year, the business for Matric Group’s electronic contract manufacturing companies (Matric and Dynamic Manufacturing) grew by 30% despite the still highly challenging and dynamic supply chain issues caused by the 2020 pandemic.

Through continued capital expenditures, expansion into two new markets, an increase in job placement, and another employee safety milestone, 2022 was a definite success.

To remain competitive in the contract manufacturing industry, Matric Group continued to invest in the latest surface mount technology (SMT) equipment.

Two new automated component placement lines were installed on the Seneca production floor, replacing two first-generation SMT lines, allowing for more than double the capacity of the original lines with better accuracy, precision, and speed twice as fast.

Also purchased were handling and inline optical inspection equipment and three more component storage units.

Many electronic contract manufacturers (ECM) tend not to place this component size, which gives Matric Group a competitive edge, opening the door to new markets and opportunities.

With its start in industrial controls back in 1971, Matric’s client base includes energy, medical, telecommunication, construction, information systems, and lab & research, to name a few.

This past year it continued to diversify specifically in new renewable charging applications and aerospace and defense.

With more business booked, Matric’s Seneca location continued to hire more than 50 new employees, filling various positions from assembly technicians to electronic technicians.

Other titles were also created, such as strategic supply chain analyst.

At Dynamic Manufacturing in Freeport, a new general Mmanager and a production manager were added to the team.

The Freeport location will launch a second shift February due to growth in 2022.

Matric Group’s main priority is workplace safety. In 2022, both companies celebrated another 365-day safety milestone. Rick Turner, the chief executive officer and owner, recognized this and personally grilled steaks for everyone to thank them for their hard work and dedication to the team.

Another perk is the company’s tuition reimbursement program. Three employees are working toward their bachelor’s degrees in electronics.

There are many other advantages Matric offers to its employees. Check out www.matric.com/careers to learn more.

With the latest technology, new markets, and a talented team, Matric Group will continue to work toward expanding its customer footprint on a global scale in 2023 and beyond.
