MLS Electrosystem Acquired by Matric Group and R2J Technologies

Coraopolis, PA; February 10, 2010 -- Controlling interests of MLS Electrosystem, were acquired by the Matric Group located in Seneca, PA, and R2J Technologies located in Pittsburgh, PA from Standard Industrial Products Company. (SIPCO) of Webster, TX. MLS Electrosystem has been engineering and manufacturing blade pitch control systems for utility grade wind turbines since 2000. Today, over 1,800 MW of power are being generated optimally using MLS Electrosystem pitch systems in Europe, Asia and North America.
MLS Electrosystem will be renamed Windurance LLC and continue to offer a full line of blade pitch control systems for existing and new customers worldwide. Their modular line of platforms includes the newest “i-pitch” (for utility grade turbines), “mini-pitch” (for smaller grade turbines) and the AC pitch system, along with the original well-established and tested platform.
SIPCO will be independent of MLS Electrosystem and continue to offer a line of electromechanical drives (motors and gear) for pitch control as well as brakes, and turbine yaw systems for the wind energy market.
The Matric Group will continue to manufacture and provide pitch control systems to the new company, Windurance. The Matric Group companies consist of: Matric, established in 1971, located in Seneca, PA and Dynamic Manufacturing, established in 1993 and located in Freeport, PA. Both companies provide electronic contract manufacturing services, engineering contract design and PCB (printed circuit board) layout services, electromechanical assembly and cable assembly.
R2J Technologies will continue to provide world class design and engineering capabilities to continue to develop state of the art pitch control systems designed for the new company, Windurance. R2J has extensive experience in all aspects of motion control, provides product development services, for custom embedded systems and power conversion solutions. They deliver cost effective, fast time to market, while assuring manufacturing cost and product performance goals for their clients.
